HeisenData - Towards a Next-Generation Uncertain Data Management System

In contrast to existing approaches for managing probabilistic data that rely on
simple uncertainty models, this project focuses on managing probabilistic data
through statistical models. HeisenData thus investigates the challenges of providing
basic database functionalities, such as query processing and query optimization,
building on statistical models.

ARCOMEM - From Collect-All Archives to Community Memories
|
The typical mechanism for Web archiving is to collect every available data. The
ARCOMEM project aims at developing new techniques for selecting and preserving data,
which are based on users needs and information from social systems.

OKKAM - Searching the Web of Entities
|
Entities on the Web (e.g., people, events, locations) are referenced using different
identifiers. The OKKAM project aims in the systematic re-use of entity identifiers and
thus allows entity-centric search and other innovative services.

NEPOMUK - The Social Semantic Desktop
|
The NEPOMUK project focused on improving the management of desktop resources (e.g., emails,
publications). It addresses the challenges appearing in this area and provides solutions to
support the personal knowledge lifecycle of each person, as well as assists in information
sharing and management.

The Beagle++ Project
|
This is a system that provides search functionality over desktop resources, e.g., documents,
emails, and images. It is an extension of the
Beagle search tool that also extracts and uses metadata describing the resources and
the semantic relationships between resources.
